Today we’re going to show you how to start a Fiverr business of your own. We’re going to going to briefly cover how to get started, you’re going to discover a gig idea that is easy and just about anyone can deliver or outsource for the ultimate hands free business and also a few tips on how you can optimize the sale of a Fiverr gig and turn it into something much more profitable.
By the end of this post, you will at the very least be more confident of your ability to start a Fiverr business and be excited about the potential in it for you.
So let’s get to it, shall we!
How To Start A Fiverr Business
First things first, head on over to Fiverr.com and hit the “Start Selling” button on the top, right hand corner.
You’ll be prompted to create a user name and password which is the first important puzzle pieces. You’ll want it to be something relative to the service you’ll be providing.
In this example, the emphasis will be on delivering SEO gigs. If you don’t know the first thing about SEO, do not worry, you don’t need to. We are simply going to offer a service that takes a couple minutes to complete and requires no knowledge or special skill.
Next, head over to your inbox and find the confirmation email to activate your account.
Before we go straight into creating a gig, we’re gonna need to dress up your account first. Make sure your profile is as complete as possible, it’s important not to leave anything blank here.
Setting Up A Gig
The gig idea here is to deliver a full SEO report to your prospective buyers and here’s how we’re gonna do that. Head back over to the menu and select “Create a Gig.”
As your typing up your gig description, you’ll want to keep in mind not to make it too long or too short. Fiverr actually helps you out with this. Additionally, you’ll want the terms “SEO” and “keyword” to be included in there.
As for categories, you’ll want to select “Online Marketing” and “Keywords Research.”
As for your gig photo, you’ll want to have multiple photos. You have two options here, you can take a picture of yourself and then edit it using a free web based tool called Canva (if you’ve never used Canva, get ready to fall in love) or you can simply take a “selfie” holding up a sign that briefly describes your gig (very short description).
I personally have a bit of an artistic side, so I opted for the Canva route. Took me less than 15 mins to make this.
If you’re camera shy, you can actually hire someone on Fiverr to do this for you. Good deal, right?
Your gig description will simply be a through breakdown of the service you’ll be delivering. Here’s a good example of a well done description in a similar gig –> Description Example
Next is your tags. At first, Fiverr will limit you to 3 tags, but once you reach Level 2 you’ll get to use 5.
Here are some good options for our gig: keyword research, seo optimization, niche marketing, google ranking, niche, keyword ranking, you get the idea here right? <– this last one wasn’t a keyword 😉
Most Fiverr sellers agree that it’s best to set this to 3 days, just in case you have internet issues and what not. You won’t need 3 days to deliver, you’ll only need about 10 minutes but this will give a bit of a safety net in case the unexpected happens and you’ll open yourself up to the opportunity to make more money from the people who purchase rush orders. Smart right?
Once your buyer buys, the first thing they’ll see is your instructions. I stole this exact template from another gig that you can use for your own. Just keep in mind that you’ll need 3 things from your buyer: website, keywords they want to rank for and niche.
Here’s the template:
“Please provide me with your website URL (if you have one), and a brief description of your product/service.
Please also provide me the specific keywords that you’d like me to research.
If there are any keywords you’d like to rank for, let me know those as well.
Also note that I offer back linking services to help increase your SEO. <– Don’t worry about this just yet 😉
I look forward to providing you with an amazing gig! Thank you!”
Do NOT ignore the video. Like the image, you can also outsource this if you’re camera shy. The key points to remember here is to have a clear video that’s about 1:30 long and you must mention that your gig is “exclusively offered on Fiverr” as this is a Fiverr requirement. If you’re stuck on what to say, watch the video on this gig and just repeat it word for word. Obviously if your name isn’t Amanda, do not say your name is Amanda. If your name IS Amanda, you’re in luck, just replicate this video word for word –> Only For The Amandas (Just Kidding).
Gig extras is where the bulk of your income will come from and the good news here is that they are even easier to deliver than your primary service.
For example, going back to the gig description where I mentioned back links service. You can outsource this job to another website called SEO Clerk which has gigs of its own performing the service for as low as $1. All you have to do is hand over the gig, get the results, deliver and keep the profits.
Here are some extra ‘Extras’ ideas:
Rush Orders: You can offer rush delivery, this will dramatically increase your number of orders and since it only takes about 10 minutes to deliver, you’ll be able to knock ’em out quickly.
Social Media Services: You can also offer services such as Facebook like, Instagram followers, Pinterest pins and Twitter followers. All of these jobs can be outsourced to SEO Clerk leading to more bucks in your pocket.
Tips: Always leave your buyers with the option to tip. You’ll be surprised how much these can add up and how many buyers actually take you up on it.
By adding these gig extras, one order can lead to two or three the commissions for you. Remember, when your buyer takes you up on your gig, he or she is officially in ‘buyer’ mode so give them some more stuff to buy! Never underestimate the power of the up-sell.
Okay, so here’s where you get to become the undercover SEO expert. This is very easy to do, however, trying to explain it in writing could make it a bit dull for you, the reader, and I don’t wanna lose your interest here so I opted to shoot a quick video.
Watch it below 🙂
All you have to do once you’ve completed your report is head on back to Fiverr and deliver it. Easy, right?
So your new Fiverr gig is going to put a nice, steady stream of income in your pocket and that’s great! But why stop there?
To wrap this blog post up, I’m gonna give you an idea that will potentially turn one Fiverr order into another automated income stream for you down the line. It will take maybe 1-2 hours of your time to set up but could make a huge impact to your bottom line and you’ll only have to set it up once.
First thing’s first, here’s what you’ll need:
Autoresponder: Aweber is the way to go here, click here for a 30 day free trial.
PLR Lead Magnet: PLR is content that was created by a third party that you are allowed rights to sell or give away. Resell Rights Weekly is the way to go here (I recommend actually upgrading to their gold service though, that’s where the quality is at).
Landing Page Builder: This one’s not entirely necessary as you can simply use the web form you created through your autoresponder. If you are interested in making everything presentable, Landing Page Monkey is a good choice.
Once you have all your tools in place, it’s time to set this baby up!
Here’s what you’re gonna do. On your delivery report, you’ll want to offer a free gift as part of your service and a way of saying thank you.
Your buyer will have to submit their email address to receive their complimentary gift and therefore be added to your list and thus opening up unlimited opportunities for you to bank affiliate commissions by suggesting SEO products from the affiliate networks suggested above. Genius, right?
The more you deliver gigs, the larger your list will grow and sky’s the limit here!
Pro Tip: Before we wrap this up, I just wanna leave you with a quick tip that will optimize your email campaigns. Essentially optimizing the optimization, haha. You’ll want to spend some time creating 3-5 follow up messages. These messages will be arranged in a series that will be sent on autopilot in the order you desire. What you don’t want to do here is promote affiliate products right away. You’ll want to use your first 1-2 emails offering more value to your subscribers. This could be more free PLR e-books from Resell Rights Weekly, this is why I recommend upgrading to the gold service once you get your account, so you can have better options and more quality in the content you give away. Trust me on this, it may not seem like a big deal, but offering more value on top of value will dramatically increase the chances of that first promotional email (your 2nd or 3rd email) leading to affiliate sales. You always want to balance the value to promotion ratio, so you’ll have a happy subscriber and happy subscribers spend money!
So there you have it, this was your crash course on creating a profitable Fiverr business for yourself on the side. Combine it with a bit of smart email marketing and there’s no limits to how big this can get to you.
This was indeed a crash course, and if nothing else, this sparked a bit of excitement for you and gave you a bit of an appetite to become a Fiverr seller.
